Super Bowl Party Food / Kelli’s Retro Kitchen Arts

I’m going to be honest with you – I like football but for some reason, I really only care about college football. Given the track record of my alma mater, it’s possible I should rethink my position since Jayhawks clearly excel in basketball, not football.

There’s something exciting about living in a college town with a mostly winning football team where the husband, two children, and son-in-law are alumni. The city wakes up with excitement on those Saturday mornings, grocery stores are bustling, people are smiling – and sadly by 10:00 am old guys are puffing cigars and staggering across campus with drinks in hand, but I digress.

Super Bowl Sunday will be here in about a week and parties abound! I would like to tell you all the kids will be here in team colors and I will be happily serving all the tidbits in the above picture, but here’s the truth: Top Girl and Son-in-Law will be exhausted because Rocket has run them ragged all week long, Lawyer Boy will be planning his wedding, and Wonder Boy will hanging out with friends. That leaves Mr. Picky eater, the dogs, and me hanging out in our comfy clothes; him watching the game and me watching the commercials. The great news is that we WILL be eating one or possibly two of those foods in the picture above. We haven’t decided but I am leaning towards the Rib Tacos. We haven’t had them in a while…..or maybe those carne’ asada nachos. It’s a good thing I don’t have to make up my mind right now!

1. Gooey Goodness in a Loaf

2. Carne’ Asada Nachos

3. Chicken Fried Steak Sliders

4. Slow Cooker Italian Beef Sandwiches – Lower Calorie

5. Tailgating Food

6. Pepperoni Logs

7. Rib Tacos

8. Texas Sliders

Y’all enjoy all the recipes. I’m working diligently on my sugar cookie self-challenge and hope to post pictures tomorrow!

I’m a fan of college football, too. I’m just starting to not be embarrassed by my Alma Matter after all the disgusting things that went on. I have to remind myself that it wasn’t the players, and most people involved are gone now.

I’m making your gooey loaf thing! I’ll probably also make corn dog muffins, spinach and artichoke dip, buffalo cauliflower, and asian glazed wings. FOOD!

    • Have you posted your recipe for Asian Glazed wings yet? I must try that! I saw that buffalo cauliflower recipe somewhere and it looked fabulous!!

I have the buffalo cauliflower pinned on pinterest ;)

And, no I don’t! It’s my mom’s recipe, and I haven’t had it in years! She actually got it out of a Buffalo Bills cookbook when I was little. We have family in Buffalo, and they gave it to my mom. I’ll be sure to share the recipe once I make it, but it’s basically a homemade teriyaki sauce!

      • Sounds great! I will look forward to it!

Oh, great, thanks a lot! I’ve looked at all the recipes and now, since they all look so yummy, I don’t know which to make!!!

  3. We may not have superbowl but I always love the delicious round up :D

    • Thanks CCU! I understand you DO have something you CALL football (and so does the rest of the world for that matter) but of course, we all know that if American’s call it something – then that’s what it is! Sort of like how everything that’s on the Internet is true, right? Hahaha!!!

  4. I wish I could have Chicken Fried Steak Sliders for breakfast (this morning). ;-)

I’ll take them all, please! Great round-up.

We don’t have any football fans in the family, but those recipes all sound like winners.

  7. I’m grateful to have a husband who is not into ‘ball sports’, no offense to those that do, but it sure frees up a lot of time for other things!
The only time any of us care about football is the Super Bowl and we usually find out who’s playing just the day before.
As we ladies know, the important part is the PARTY, the preparing and overeating of delicious foods like the one’s you’ve shared and the once-a-year lounging around for hours watching football- but mostly commercials!
    Have a delicious weekend!

So many options but that gooey loaf looks so good :-)
